My dogs are my friends forever, and ever!!
The History of the African Fata Morgana golden wreathed
Rhodesian Ridgeback Master Kennel
Let me introduce myself...
My name is Monika Perecz and I have naturalized this breed in Hungary.
I have been breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1993 and I have also been training, preparing
and having them appear at exhibitions since then.
My life and my profession is to get acquainted with this admirable breed and to ingrain all
European specimen of outstanding characteristics and excellent genetic background in my dogs.
Our profession and aim is to breed beautiful and excellent quality dogs equally suitable for
exhibitions, hunting, sports, breeding or being faithful friends of the family.
The fruit of our labour is that our dogs live a happy and healthy life by their owners' side,
making them, and of course us, immensely delighted.
The African Fata Morgana Kennel can be found in Érd, 16 km far from Budapest. Every day
we take long walks with our dogs at the bank of the Danube and they enjoy it very much
because of the vicinity of the water and its fauna.
Nowadays, we live with five Rhodesian Ridgeback female dogs, a Havanese and an English
Staffordshire Bullterrier male, who make our days beautiful and accompany us on our trips
and sometimes on our equestrian tours, too.
And how did it start?
At a dog exhibition in 1992, I caught a glimpse of a dog, the breed of which I hadn't known
before. It piqued my interest immediately with its graceful, commanding look and its calmness
as it was watching the small crowd of people standing around it and admiring it lying on its back
with an interesting ridge, because no one had seen such a dog before in Hungary.
After the exhibition, I threw myself enthusiastically into descriptions in books to get more
information about this exceptionally interesting breed and I started to find breeders of Rhodesian
Ridgeback dogs. Thus, I found the young Katama kennel in the Czech Republic, from where,
after a period of six months waiting, I received the founder bitch of my kennel, Butterfly Katama
in March, 1993. She was born from a beautiful father (Hurricane Makaranga) imported from
Africa and owned by Germans and from a mother (Arwila Ropotamo) with Swiss bloodline
(Merigal).
1995 (Litter A)
Butterfly presented me with seven beautiful puppies, the first ones in my life, from the famous
Dutch World Champion father, Vumba. Some of the puppies were taken abroad and they became
excellent breeding dogs in Germany.
1997 (Litter B)
The mother of our second litter was Butterfly and the father was the very famous stud Besal
Fatoka, who had been imported from Africa and had bred several famous offsprings.
The result of their mating was a fantastic litter with sixteen puppies, but only thirteen of them
stayed alive (10 males, 3 females) and I kept two of them to be my breeding dogs. Dahomey
and Bukana (Mingo) lived up to my expectations and I owe them my first successes at
exhibitions, which raised my interest in the world of exhibitions.
Several dogs from this litter became Champions as adults (five Hungarian Champions
altogether) making their owners and us very proud. African Fata Morgana Tara, also the member
of this litter, became the founder bitch of the African Red Stone kennel.
2000 (Litter C)
My third litter was born from Butterfly and from the Austrian Sarula Forosi, who had also been
imported from Africa.Thirteen beautiful puppies were born (7 males, 6 females), some of which
were taken abroad and they became faithful companions of the families, while some of them
became excellent exhibition and breeding dogs in Hungary, too, for example the African Fata
Morgana Aeneas in the Shingamonga kennel.
2000 (Litter D)
Our fourth litter was also born in 2000, from African Fata Morgana Dahomey and from the
Israel and Dutch Goodline-Steff Cairo, birthing nine puppies (4 males, 5 females). Several
puppies of this litter also became successful adults, for example:
- African Fata Morgana Dante, who gained success in the dog sport, Canicross in Hungary and
abroad as well, making his owner and us extremely happy,
- African Fata Morgana Maya, who became the founder bitch of a new Hungarian kennel,
and another one became its owner's companion at huntings.
2005 (Litter E)
After a five-year-long break, we started a long journey in Germany with our bitch, African Fata
Morgana Dahomey to
have our fifth litter from Helderydge Chivi, a male with a fantastic genetic background (imported
from Africa). In this litter, five puppies were born (2 males, 3 females). A male and a female
puppy were adopted by their new families in Germany. We kept the other two females Elza
(Aisha) and Evelyn (Lina) for breeding purposes and they have lived up to our expectations by
becoming excellent exhibition and breeding dogs. I am especially proud of Elza (Aisha)'s
achievement at the World Exhibition in Poznan in 2006, where she won the second place among
21 bithes in the class of young dogs, beating many other beautiful dogs. It caused us tremendous
pleasure.
However, in our kennel, we have received exceptionally beautiful and successful offsprings
from both of our bitches so far, and we hope them to present us with even more lovely puppies
in the future.
2006 (Litter F)
Our sixth litter was born from African Fata Morgana Dahomey and Kijana Lion Athos Kendall
bred in Switzerland and having excellent African genetic background. There were eight beautiful
puppies (5 females, 3 males) in this litter. A female and a male puppy were taken to Austria,
another female puppy was taken to Russia to their new loving families. We kept a female dog,
Farisa, who had enchanted us with her charm and beauty, and we started to participate in
exhibitions again. Farisa reached great successes in Hungary and abroad alike. We are
especially proud of her achievement at the European dog exhibition held in Budapest in 2008,
where she reached the second R.CAC place among fifteen bitches in the open class, and on the
same day she also won first place receiving CAC title at the club exhibition in the open class.
We closed a very nice day and returned home feeling exhausted but being very happy and proud.
Another female dog from Litter F , African Fata Morgana Faraa, also reached very nice
successes at exhibitions and she became the founder of a new Rhodesian Ridgeback kennel in
Hungary.
2007 (Litter G)
Witnessing the excellent quality of our previous litter, in 2007, we had Kijana Lion Athos
Kendal mate again, but this time the mum was our other bitch, African Fata Morgana Evelyn
(Lina). From their mating there were twelve beautiful puppies (8 males, 4 females) born. Several
members of this litter reached successes at exhibitions. Four of them became Junior Champions,
which shows the excellent quality of the litter.
2008 (Litter H)
In the spring of 2008, our eighth litter was born from African Fata Morgana Evelyn (Lina) and
from Bukavu-Bawu Bambuto. Their mating resulted in the birth of nine puppies (6 males,3
females). One male puppy was taken to America to a loving family and he still lives there
happily, causing his family great delight. The other puppies found their new loving homes in
Hungary.
2008 (Litter I)
Our ninth litter was born in October, 2008, mating African Fata Morgana Elza (Aisha) and
Malozi Charaza bred in Finland. There were ten puppies (7 males, 3 females) born. We kept one
of the female puppies, the beautiful and nice Isoke. We would like to have her appear at
exhibitions. We are planning her first significant challenge by 2009 at the World Exhibition in
Bratislava.
2008 (Litter J)
At the end of the year, in December, our tenth litter was born with eleven puppies (7 males, 4
females) from the mating of African Fata Morgana Farisa and Dabobo Malozi bred in Finland.
All of the puppies were adopted by good, loving and caring owners in Hungary.
2009 (Litter K)
In July, 2009, our eleventh litter was born from African Fata Morgana Elza (Aisha) and from
the exceptionally beautiful Int.Ch.Arengo Essence of Haika, who had been very successful at
exhibitions. Thirteen puppies (5 males, 8 females) were born in this litter.
All of our sweet puppies found a lovely new home!
From this litter Kijani name of our puppy we are very proud until now! When he is 11 months
old, he got the 5.places on the World Dog show in Dania, in an exceptionally strong young class.
We congratulate him and his owners, to their exceptionally beautiful, persistent work!!
